About the Author
S. M. Joshi is a longtime researcher and a part-time educator in control theory and applications. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and is a Fellow of: IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers),
AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics), and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
He is the author/coauthor of well over 200 serious publications (including 3 books) in
control theory and a variety of aerospace applications.
He also taught several controls courses, advised graduate dissertations, and
was the originator and contributor of the “Out of Control”
cartoons which appeared in the IEEE Control Systems Magazine (1985- 1994). He is a recipient
of several technical awards from IEEE, ASME, AACC (American Automatic Control Council), and NASA.
